Who are you?
- We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit association founded in 2020 called Artists in Solidarity. Our EIN is at the bottom of this page. Annually we hold online charity art auctions to raise funds for humanitarian aid. Your contribution may be tax deductible. Please see a tax professional for more information on IRS regulations.
Who is receiving the funds you raise?
- Based on annual auction themes, we disburse funds as individual one-time emergency grants to affected families and or fellow organizations in the US doing humanitarian work on the ground.
You say that all proceeds minus expenses are disbursed as grants. What are these expenses?
- We are a small association and work to keep our overhead low so we can give the most funds to our grant recipients.
- Our expenses are required filing fees for nonprofit organizations for federal and state regulations, bank fees, the cost of a PO box, and any credit card fees not covered by bidders during the auction.
- You can help keep our costs low by choosing to cover the credit card fee when bidding or covering shipping when selling art in the auction.
Where are you located?
- We operate out of the San Diego region but host artwork from all over the globe. Our fundraising activities are online, while we host in-person events with local partners. See bottom of page for contact info.
I am curious about your financials and want transparency. Can I see more information?
- Our EIN as Artists in Solidarity is 85-2372771 and our tax returns are publicly searchable. You may send us a contact form (above) if you need further information.
What don’t you do?
- We don’t engage in activities or promoting causes and interests unrelated to humanitarian needs or the artists who participate in our action.
- We do
not incite, engage in, or encourage violence in any form.
- We don’t engage in political endorsement or campaigning.
- We don’t claim responsibility for the views of our artists. We believe in the right to freedom of expression and have limited restrictions on creative entries. See Artists FAQ for more information.
That’s all good. How can I help?
-
Artists: if you are interested in donating
artwork for the upcoming auction, we usually have an open call between June and July each year. If our artist call is not open we will put you
on our list for future auctions. Contact us below.
-
Local Humanitarian Orgs: If you are an
organization that supports or defends people in need and want consideration for
future grants, please contact us.
-
Lawyers: If you do pro-bono work, we’d love to
list you as a resource for people in need. Please contact us above.
- Good people: if you are some other kind of good person who wants to help out: contact us. Do you like to make flyers? Shirts? Stickers? Community? Magic? Whatever. Tell us your skill set. You will be paid in good karma.
- Good people in vulnerable communities: Be neighborly. Get to know your community. If you see something, say something. Do not interfere with law enforcement activity, stay safe, and document from a distance if able. Share verified information with friends, and do not share unverified information because it creates confusion.
I’ve actually got an opinion on how you could do this better, who do I talk to?
