GRANTEE FAQ

What kind of funding do you provide?
  • We offer immediate need grants and legal funding to people in need and the organizations that support them. This funding is with no strings attached and aims to ease human suffering.
  • We offer sustainability grants to partner organizations who are also working to ease such hardship.

What organizations qualify for funding from Artists in Solidarity?
  • We provide grant funding to organizations that directly support people in need in a variety of ways: legal aid, humanitarian services, vocational assistance, housing/shelter, and more.

How do you choose organizations to receive grant funding?
  • Every Spring we look at a variety of organizations that work with people in need, researching to their track records, their financials, and their reputations.
  • We then narrow down the list to two organizations who show exemplary service, paying attention to current events and likelihood of impact.
  • We prioritize organizations with volunteer workforces but do not exclude those with paid workers.

What individuals qualify for immediate need grants and legal funding?
    • To verify need, we partner with trusted local humanitarian organizations that are both in direct contact with families but also demonstrate a commitment to safety and privacy to the people affected.
    • While transparency is our guiding principle financially, we guard any personal information about individual grantees like we would Nonni’s sauce recipe.

I represent an organization that helps people and I’m looking for funding. How do I apply?
    • Please submit a contact form and we will keep you in mind for upcoming grants.
    • While not required, we like to see your prior years’ financials to help us make a decision.

I represent an organization that was chosen to receive a grant. How does that work?
    • We will hold an online auction over a two-week period, usually in the Summer.
    • Over this time we ask that you help promote the auction to increase fundraising opportunities.
    • When the auction ends, we subtract any expenses from the total funds raised, then we split the remainder between two grantees.
    • We send the donation to you however you wish, electronically or by check, but we ask for a receipt for our records.

That’s all good. How can I help?
      • Artists: if you are interested in donating artwork for the upcoming auction, please click the link above.  If our artist call is not open we will put you on our list for future auctions.
      • Local Humanitarian Orgs: if you are an organization that supports or defends people in need and want consideration for future grants, please contact us.
      • Lawyers: If you do pro-bono work, we’d love to list you as a resource for people in need. Please contact us above.
      • Good people: do you like to make flyers? Shirts? Stickers? Community? Magic? Whatever? Contact us and tell us your skill set. You will be paid in good karma.

I’ve actually got an opinion on how you could do this better, who do I talk to?
      • We’re artists who thrive on critical discourse. Please shoot us a note in our contact form to open dialogue. If you get nasty, we’ll block you
